Sharing the Thing I Love Most

Without a doubt, one of my favorite things about being a graduate student is getting the chance to teach about the geosciences. For some reason, I always think of this quote from the (not-so critically acclaimed) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Crimes of Grindelwald movie, "You've never met a monster you couldn't love." (Albeit, I believe this quote was heavily used in the trailer). And I always have thought about this concerning myself with a substitution leading to, "You've never seen a wild place you couldn't love." Another quote that describes my mindset is from Game of Thrones, 'remixed' to be "The World is wide, and full of WONDERS. Reflections on Fall 2019

4 Semesters Down As I sit here in my apartment the weekend after finals week, there is an overwhelming and almost suffocating nothingness to do. But at this time, I'm taking a moment to look back at the past semester and appreciate all that has happened in the time. Within all that Is, there is a web of confusion. We wrestle the strings until we realize that our job is not to untangle it, but solely appreciate the pattern woven. Prospecting Research Coming off my summer position as a Research Assistant, in which I essentially went into the office as a 9-5 job, you would expect me to have a good understanding of my Masters research project. But oh boy, I was wrong. Albeit, I slacked a bit towards the end of the summer, but going into the Fall it was very obvious that I had a lot of ground to make up. Starting a Blog

Hello to anybody reading this! As you know since you are reading this, I decided to start a blog. I was inspired while reading my friend Kellie's blog post about writing a blog post while having writer's block, as I was reading a blog post while having writer's block concerning my research. So I thought, "I should procrastinate by starting a blog." And here we are. But actually, there are a few reasons why a blog sounds exciting right now. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Geology with a focus in Hydrogeology, and have dreams of a scientific career, in which writing is a very important. Over my first year, I have done a bit of report writing to summarize different topics of my research. These are not worthy of any publication, but it is still rewarding to put them out there. A sense of accomplishment on polishing a report and hitting "Publish" on a post may be enough to encourage me to write more and give me more writing pract
